In Russia there aren't many other options, so Keychron C1 was simply one of the few remaining choices. The choice was simple: I wanted TKL because I rarely use numpad and my desk space is limited, and I didn't want to buy overpriced poor quality shit like the G915 and Blackwidow V3. After that I tried a couple of cheap membrane keyboards, but wasn't happy with their quality, so in the end I got this beauty. I had used a membrane keyboard from 1995 for full 25 years, and even though it was working perfectly, I decided that I want the Win and Menu keys, the media keys and USB (that one was DIN, using a DIN-to-PS/2 adapter). My main use cases are gaming, typing and coding. It's my first mechanical keyboard, so I'm posting it to help anyone find answer to the question whether it's a good model to start with. The box was a little damaged as well as one of the windows keys (you might notice I have a mismatched Windows and command key) but I don't really feel like hassling them bc I want to change the keycaps down the line anyway.(Originally posted in r/keyboards, tried to cross-post by apparently it's disabled in this sub.

Ordered it a week ago and got it in about 5 days.

I got it off their website, not through the Kickstarter.

The default ones are okay (breathing is my fave) but would prefer to limit the colors to a subset of the RGB spectrum

the lighting!!! There's gotta be a way to customize the lighting based on audio or a custom program.

Configuring keys with VIA is a breeze.

Using the MSI installer instead of the exe did the trick.

Updating the firmware through QMK took some figuring out on the PC- QMK wouldn't go into the DFU mode despite holding the reset button when plugging in the cable.

So for my usage, the K8 Pro is totally fine The GMMK2 was actually the other option I was considering but customizing it really adds to the cost and I wasn't fully sold on the idea of a mechanical keyboard in the first place. I'd probably get a set from Glorious at some point. The default colorway threw me off when I was ordering but I don't really notice it in person.The PBT keycaps are great at not holding grease.I'm still not used to the brown switches having used the Apple keyboard for the last 4 years, I kinda liked the metallic 'chink'-ing sounds.This has to be my most 'discretionary' computer purchase thus far, feels pretty sweet :)) I needed a workhorse for writing, occasional programming and gaming and I think this badboy is going to last me a long time!! Thoughts:
